The Hague

Already 20 years some Missionary Sisters of the Holy Spirit (SSpS) and Missionaries of the Divine Word (SVD) try to cooperate in the realization of a society of peace, encounter and support in The Hague. We are now 8 persons from Africa, Asia and the Netherlands and we live in the center of the ”Schilderswijk” with its very mixed population. Our foremost contribution is our community life of work, prayer and hospitality. In addition we care pastorally for migrants and help people in need. We also try to make contact with and speak with people of other religions and cultures in our area. Some of us are directly involved in the catholic parish of The Hague North, but each of us tries in his own way to offer consolation and support to people we meet. The name of our community is Hircos; that is “the Hague InternationalReligious Community Schilderswijk”. It is a very special way of carrying out the mission of our two congregations.
